Description: Black and mottled with white; large eye spots on the pronotum (dorsal plate). When placed on htier backs, click beetles flex their prothorax and flip themselves into the air.
Habitat: Adults live beneath tree stumps, logs, wood piles
Range: Eastern North America
Food: Larvae feed on seeds, plant roots, underground stems and prey on many wood-boring beetle larvae.
