Description: 1 1/4 - 1 3/8" wingspan; above, light brown with tiny eyepsots on hindwing margin; gray-brown crossed with darker wavy lines; purplish-gray patch on hindwing margin with small metallic-blue eyespots

Habitat: Shaded, moist wooded and grassy areas, ponds, streams in open woods, pine flats

Range: Illinois and Virginia south to Texas and Mexico, east to central Florida

Host/Food Plant: Various grasses (Poaceae)
