Species: Everes comyntas, Eastern Tailed Blue
Description: 3/4 - 1" wingspan. Male above, bright silver blue with thin dark margin, orange and black hindwing spots, thin tail. Female above, slate gray and black with blue. Grayish white below with curved rows of gray-black spots becoming less distinct near margin; orange spots edged in black above hindwing tail. White fringe on wing margins of both sexes. Caterpillars overwinter in pea and bean pods.
Habitat: Fields, gardens, powerline cuts, crop fields
Range: North America east of the Rockies, from southern Canada south into Central America
Host/Food Plant: Legumes including clover, beans, trefoil, peas
Status: Abundant and widespread
