Species: Hermeuptychia sosybius, Carolina Satyr
Description: 1 1/8 - 1 5/8"; wings rounded; above, brown with or without eyespots; below, hindwing with row of eyespots with light margins and bluish pupils, second and fifth eyespots largest.
Habitat: Deciduous woods, grassy areas
Range: New Jersey to Florida, west to Texas and Kentucky
Host/Food Plant: Caterpillars eat various grasses. Adults eat sap and rotting fruit.
Status: No special status
