Park ranger holding the first of 5 hatchlings found within the nest. When it was first removed it was barely moving. Within a few minutes it was actively moving. When the turtles hatch out of the egg, their shells are folded in half; it takes them a few days from the time they break out of the shell until they crawl out of the nest.
