Swallowtail Butterflies
Species: Papilio glaucus, Tiger Swallowtail
Description: 3 5/8 - 6 1/2" wingspan. Male yellow with dark stripes. 2 female forms; one similar to the male, the other is black with dark stripes.
Habitat: Meadows, woods
Range: Eastern North America from Ontario south to Gulf coast, west to Colorado plains and central Texas.
Host/Food Plant: Fraxinus spp. (Ash), Liriodendron (Tulip Poplar), Prunus spp. (Black Cherry)
Status: No special status.
